I have a M.A. Economics from the University of Alabama, having graduated Lehigh University, an elite engineering school in Bethlehem, PA, where I earned a B.S. in Mathematics with minors in Economics and German. I also spent a semester in Germany, where I received certification for B2-level competence in speaking, reading, and writing. My SAT scores were 730 Reading, 780 Math, and 800 Writing, and I got a 760 on the GMAT.
In terms of tutoring experience, I have experience helping students with pre-algebra and algebra, raising grades several levels. Also, when I was in algebra class, my classmates asked me to take over teaching responsibilities from a substitute. Afterward, they agreed that I was more effective than our regular teacher. In my years with Wyzant, I have tutored German, SAT preparation, and Macroeconomics and received very good reviews from my students. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I studied this subject in 7th grade. I am a college graduate with a B.S. Mathematics. I have experience teaching this subject too; I helped my friend go from F's to A's and B's.

I have extensive knowledge of the American Civil War and World War II, having studied both in my leisure time. From the Seneca Falls convention to the disputed election of 1876, from the Scopes monkey trial to the space race, I know about a myriad of topics in American history.
Lehigh math majors must complete three semesters of calculus in order to graduate. In high school, I got college credit for the first two semesters from the AP test and from the Carnegie Mellon University summer camp.
I studied Chemistry in 10th grade, so I am familiar with balancing equations, VSEPR, and basic properties of solutions, compounds, and elements. I will not offer to, and I do not expect to be asked to, teach more advanced topics of Chemistry such as those one might find in college.
In college, I minored in Economics. Required courses were Intermediate Micro- and Intermediate Macroeconomics. I also took a History of Economic Thought class, covering topics from Hume, Smith, and Ricardo, through the neoclassical school of Alfred Marshall.
I scored 730 in Critical Reading and 800 in Writing on the SAT. In high school, I took Honors English classes from 9th through 11th grades; 9th grade was devoted to grammar and literature such as Julius Caesar, 10th to American Literature, and 11th to English literature.
I studied post-1648 European history in college. Another course I studied was Roman history from the early Roman republic to about midway through the Empire. As for in between, I learned much by reading in my leisure time.
I won my school's Geography Bee in 5th grade in a competition that included 8th graders. I studied AP World History in 11th grade. In addition, I have taken a class in geology. Overall, I am very familiar with the subject, from plate tectonics to erosion, from the countries of Asia to global climates.
I studied basic Geometry in 8th grade, the same year I qualified for the state-level Mathcounts competition (the Math equivalent of the Spelling Bee). I finished the book weeks ahead of my peers. In college, I took a class in college Geometry, which started with Euclid's five postulates and ended in non-Euclidean space. I earned a 780 on the Math section of the SAT, which includes Geometry.

I studied this subject in 10th grade. As part of continuing education, I follow political news regularly. I am very familiar with federalism, confederalism, popular sovereignty, divine right, and many other historical political systems.

My English classes in high school were devoted to various literature. 9th grade was general works of literature, including "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Julius Caesar". 10th grade focused on American literature such as "A Farewell to Arms" and William Faulkner's "The Reivers". 11th grade was devoted to British literature such as "Wuthering Heights" and the works of Robert Burns. 12th grade was global literature, including "Things Fall Apart" and "Life of Pi."
I studied Physics for two years in high school, continuing for two more semesters in college, including a lab. In sum, I have studied Physics from Newton's laws to electromagnetism, including current induction and solenoids.
