About Matthew

Bio

My name is Matthew N. I attended Winthrop University on a full academic scholarship from 2013-2017. After taking a year off to work and save money for living expenses, I scored a 169 on the LSAT and accepted another full academic scholarship to Penn State Law School in 2018. I am currently on track to graduate in 2021.

I have loved teaching since high school and have a wide variety of different tutoring experiences. In high school, I was a volunteer after-school tutor for Spanish, Algebra, and Pre-Calculus. I worked as a private Calculus tutor my freshman year in college, and as a private Bio-Psych tutor my sophomore year. From 2015 to 2017, I also helped instruct adult students of various ages and fitness levels in self-defense and Isshin-Ryu Karate. In February of 2020, I gave a guest-lecture on logical fallacies and argumentation for the Penn State rhetoric department. From these cumulative experiences I have learned that I truly love to teach and that teaching gives me a great sense of personal fulfillment. I love being able to help other people learn and grow, and it is my goal to teach either philosophy, rhetoric, or law after I graduate.

I scored a 750 on the Math section of the SAT in 2012, and have previous experience tutoring high school math.

I scored a 670 on the Reading section of the SAT in 2012, have since earned a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy (a very reading-intensive subject), and am now trained in both academic and legal rhetoric and reading.

I scored in the 96th percentile on the December 2017 LSAT and as a result received offers for full-tuition scholarships to multiple law schools. I also have previous tutoring experience and love helping others improve their logical reasoning and test-taking strategies.

While I would prefer for our tutoring sessions to take place over the weekend, my schedule is somewhat flexible and I am happy to schedule a tutoring session at a different time if needed. Please contact me with any questions regarding my availability or hours, or if you have any
