Hello, I'm Jeff! I've tried to learn languages before. I traveled to India long ago, and wanted to learn Hindi. Then visited Thailand and learned a few words there. I enjoy learning foreign languages, but more importantly, have become better at learning languages through my experience. If you are serious about learning English, I'd be happy to help you learn English, but also help you with the techniques of skilled language learners.

I have tutored and taught lessons for several years, and my students success is my success. I enjoy the process of tutoring students to help them overcome the difficulties that stop the learning process. I want to make learning more interesting using pictures or videos, and using subjects that interest YOU as the student!

I am very qualified for teaching English, as in my education, but also in my own life of studying foreign languages.

Teaching experience, Elementary, Middle and High School, over 3 years.
Tutoring in English as a Second Language, over 1 year
Certification in TESOL teaching, CELTA Completion and Certification, 2019
Also experience in Language Acquisition, both from education and from personal experience.

If you'd like to connect and see if we can learn together, let me know! We can just chat, or schedule a trial lesson this week. Write to me and tell me 1) your current learning experience and 2) your goal for this year. What specifically do you need to learn right now?
Keep learning, it is worth the effort!
Jeff C. Y.

My qualifications for teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) include TESOL Training and CELTA Certification . CELTA is a worldwide accepted program certified by Cambridge University. My training in 2019 helped me improve my teaching and student success. The training included learning and practicing in the classroom and 4 weeks of teaching under profesional observation. After each teaching session, my trainer and peer teachers gave me reviews of my teaching so I could make improvements. I also have tutored in ESL starting in 2014, and was a language teacher for 3 years before that. I have been in education work since 1999, when I was teaching English Grammar and the Spanish language.

I am a Native speaker from California skilled in college-level writing and grammar. I have experience as an English grammar teacher; I have a good ability to explain grammar. Training in Linguistics and Language Learning, plus CELTA Certified for teaching English.

Spanish

LEARNING SPANISH: Bachelor's degree in Spanish, at Sonoma State University, CA is the middle of my Spanish learning; I began learning the language over 10 years earlier, and increased accuracy and fluency with 6 months in South America and over 4 of full-time work with Hispanic Immigrants (in CA and NC). LEARNING TO TEACH: Personal language learning experience in several languages helped me learn *How to learn languages* which is something I teach my language students. My experiences teaching ESL English cross over into my teaching of Spanish, and my last certified course (CELTA, a "TESOL" program) enhanced my teaching skills, techniques and efficiency of causing students to learn the language.

Elementary Education

Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

I have a Bachelor's degree from California State University, when I was pursuing becoming an elementary teacher. I've since taught over 3 years in the public schools, but changed focus into a career of helping and educating people. I've taught elementary math, completed training in teaching math skills to young students. My experience in classroom teaching totals over 4 years in elementary, plus 4 years involving preschool-aged children. I also have involvement in my own children's home school education, of whom 5 are in progress.

Homeschool

I am involved in teaching our own children here at home, in all subjects for Elementary and Middle School, and some of the High School subjects. Along with a bachelor's degree in teaching Spanish, I've taught elementary -high school grammar for English and Spanish, and many subjects in public schools, a private school and in my own home. My skills are to take the teaching text and teach it in ways related to their life experience or interests. I can explain materials with illustrations and patience in ways that usually makes it comprehensible and memorable. My own study experiences have given me study skills and memorization techniques which I pass on to my students. Often, I've made review materials more interesting with songs, crosswords, games and visuals, depending on the subject may. Let's talk about how online tutoring would be helpful for your students.
