About Alyssa

My greatest academic strength lies in writing, specifically technical writing. My Professional Writing major gave me a lot of experience in writing professional documents such as business memos and letters, research papers, grant proposals, and fundraising plans. Many of these documents include sections on dissemination and sustainability, as well as a timeline and budget. Furthermore, my current editing job is helping me develop the skills to polish and strengthen my work.

Furthermore, I wrote grant proposals to raise money for undergraduate research at the University. My grant is still being used today to prepare other proposals. Currently, I work at the Whitaker House as an editor for print-on-demand books, including fiction and non-fiction material.

I took a couple Creative Non-Fiction classes in college as well. I enjoy any type of writing--from creative writing to travel writing to professional writing and grant writing! I also love to read and edit written material. I love books, and I would love to help someone who is looking to improve their writing skills as well.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I have been leading Bible studies for years now. I started attending a Bible study as young as 13, and when I started high school, I started leading Bible studies for the girls in our youth group.

As a resident assistant in college, I enjoyed leading Bible studies and Christian book studies for my residents.

Even now that I have graduated, I am leading a Bible study for the women in my family, including aunts, cousins, etc.

I absolutely love studying God's Word with people who are truly excited about it like I am! I would love to share with others what I have learned when it comes to studying the Bible and approaching Scripture. I have also learned how to manage a study group and foster discussion. Please, let me know what I can do!
