Lebanon Valley College, Annville PA (Spanish, Am. Studies)
My name is Rachel and am an 18 year old female. I have been tutoring subjects such as Spanish, English (reading comprehension), Biology, and etc. on my own for about two years. I have enjoyed tutoring students between elementary, middle and high school. While I was in high school, especially senior year, I often helped to tutor students around my age and younger. I was also the official Student Essay Editor for the Writing Workshop at my high school.
I am part of a select group of Allwein (Full Scholarship) Scholars at Lebanon Valley College and am currently in my sophomore year. During high school, I graduated as Salutatorian and an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Recipient. At Lebanon Valley College, I have taken higher-level Spanish, Biology, Psychology, English and even Sociology courses and have done well in all of them.
My main philosophy for tutoring is to help create a well-rounded student because I have personally greatly benefited from this in the way that my parents and role models have influenced me. While it is important to become a great student academically, I believe that students need to recognize how their academic knowledge can enrich their lives in other significant ways (i.e. socially, athletically, psychologically, etc.). In addition, I try to make learning both informative and enjoyable to my students, which I believe has led to my great success in the past. For this reason, I enjoy one-on-one tutoring so that I can cater to each student's interests and needs.
I have taken college-level Biology and Psychology courses and have excelled in these subjects both in high school and college.
I have been studying Spanish for more than 10 years and am very proficient in speaking, reading, and writing. I have also had many cultural, immersion experiences and am familiar with various Hispanic cultures. Although I am in my second out of four years of undergraduate education, I have already been placed in the highest-level college courses for Spanish at Lebanon Valley College.
I have years of experience tutoring students in reading comprehension and proof reading expository works. I have and am currently taking higher-level college courses at Lebanon Valley College and have excelled in English classes during high school.
Please feel free to contact me for any subject(s) that you believe I can tutor you in! I am excited to work with you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been studying Spanish for almost 13 years and love teaching others the language in reading, writing and speaking. I think that learning another language, such as Spanish, is such an important skill, especially in today's multicultural world, and want to help others increase their proficiency.
I have played tennis for six years. Of those six years, four were at the high school Varsity level with two of those years at the #1 Singles Position. The past two years I have played for the Lebanon Valley College Women's Tennis Team. For the past three summers, I have been hired as an assistant coach ("pro") at a Tennis Camp.
