Hi, my name is Erin. I am certified to teach Elementary Education (K-6). I am also ESOL endorsed and have received the credits to gain my Reading Endorsement, as well. I have significant experience working with children, including children with disabilities. I recently worked at an after school program for kids on the Autism Spectrum. My sister-in-law, who I live with, was also diagnosed as being on the spectrum, so I am very aware of the educational challenges that can sometimes be associated with the disorder.
In addition to my experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum, I also have teaching and volunteering experience in ESE, ESOL, Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms. My internship was in a 5th grade reading and social studies class and I was a long term substitute in a 2nd grade classroom. I was also hired as a private tutor during my graduate studies.
My experience has made me understand the need for flexibility in lesson planning. I always have a plan before the start of a lesson, but I easily able to adapt that lesson based upon the needs of my students. I try my hardest to make learning fun because it makes the experience more enjoyable for both me and my students. Education is something that I am very passionate about and I hope that I will be able to instill that passion into my students. Hi, my name is Erin. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I recently worked for an after school program for kids on the Autism Spectrum. I also had students in my 2nd grade class that were diagnosed on the spectrum. In addition, I have educational background in psychology, including abnormal psychology and child clinical psychology.
I completed a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education (K-6). I am currently certified in the state of Florida in Elementary Education with an ESOL endorsement.
