Stony Brook University (Graduate Coursework)
I'm a science geek who did some really cool graduate work folding molecules on a computer. I've worked at a Science Center to share my love of science with students, and have been studying and passed exams to teach middle school science. I've been a TA in Undergraduate Chemistry at Stony Brook University, and married a math-o-phobe who has now passed college algebra and statistics coursework.
I'm a very metaphor-oriented teacher. To make math and science sticky in your mind, you need to build connections with physical or mental objects and images. If you can understand the building blocks, you can build anything. I'll help you translate the facts of your coursework into knowledge. I really want to work with students from middle school to adults returning to school.
I look forward to working with you! I'm a science geek who did some really cool graduate work folding molecules on a computer. I've worked at a Science Center to share my love of science with students, and have been studying and passed exams to teach middle school
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
