Does learning math seem daunting? It doesn't have to be, and I can help you learn and have fun doing it.

As a public policy adviser for more than 20 years, I've advised governors, mayors, legislators and other senior officials on making wise policy decisions. In this role, I've benefited from a mastery of quantitative analysis and a pragmatic understanding of how influence is best achieved.

I took algebra beginning in 5th grade and scored an 800 on the math section of my SAT and 790 on the similar section of the GRE. Algebra provides a solid foundation for important aspects of business and life for years to come, and it prepares a person well for more advanced mathematics courses (which I teach too).

I also help with communication skills and standardized test preparation. Writing concisely and effectively is important, as technical knowledge needs to be distilled into a comprehensible summary for decision makers. My work requires proactive responses to stress similar to those of SAT or ACT preparation; as a public finance executive, I understand how to achieve success under pressure.

I enjoy helping students learn well the subjects I teach, and I look forward to sharing this passion with your family. But don't expect a quick fix (one student who expected such a fix provided me both my one-star ratings). If you work diligently alongside me over time, you'll achieve your academic goals with confidence.

In Algebra 1, patterns of numbers in relation to one another become important. How may tickets do I need to sell to make a profit on my event? How does a change in an input affect the output of something else? These are the questions now at hand, and through the study of linear and quadratic equations, factoring, exponents and roots, a new world of mathematical aptitude is yours to discover.

My daughter went from a C to an A in a high school, honors geometry class with this tutor. Brent is extremely intelligent and also can teach in a manner which the student understands. He hones in on the student's weakness in the subject and strengthens it until it is mastered. He makes the leaning seem easy and is fun to work with.
