About Rachel

Hi! Thanks for visiting my profile! I provide tutoring in all academic areas for students in grades k through 7 and for children and adults with special needs. I have over 19 years of experience working with individuals of all ages.

I am a certified school psychologist and licensed behavior specialist with a master's degree in education. I have also worked as an assistant teacher, residential counselor, and tutored several children of various ages over the past several years.

I love to teach, am extremely patient, and truly care about the individuals I work with. I have excellent reading, writing and math skills and utilize creative and innovative ways to keep my students engaged. I have extensive experience with with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, emotional disabilities and intellectual disabilities.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

In addition to being a tutor, I am a certified school psychologist and licensed behavior specialist with a Master's Degree in Education. I have over 10 years' experience working with children with ADHD. I know how to use multimodal teaching and student strengths to make my lessons engaging.

Aspergers

In addition to being a tutor, I am a certified school psychologist and licensed behavior specialist with a Master's Degree in Education. I have over 16 years of experience working with individuals with Asperger's. I enjoy using visual and hands-on learning activities to help my students thrive.

Autism

In addition to being a tutor, I am a certified school psychologist and licensed behavior specialist with a Master's Degree in Education. I have over 16 years of experience working with children and adults with autism. I enjoy using visual and hands-on learning activities to help my students thrive. I understand the importance of building lessons around student strengths.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have over 16 years of experience working with individuals with academic needs. I am a certified school psychologist and licensed behavior specialist with a master's degree in education. I currently tutor a first grader in reading and math and a second grader in reading. I have also worked as an assistant teacher, residential counselor, and tutored several children of various ages in the past. I have excellent reading, writing and math skills and utilize creative and innovative methods to keep my students engaged.

Phonics

I have a master's degree in education. I have taken college courses in literacy. I currently tutor a first and second grader with a primary focus in phonics instruction and can provide references to substantiate their progress. I use fun and innovative was to keep my students engaged and motivated.
