As a kindergarten teacher my goal has always been to teach children in ways that encourage them to discover more about the amazing world around them! As a Love and Logic teacher I encourage my students to take personal responsibility for their actions and to understand that their effort and enthusiasm is an invaluable tool in their education. During and after receiving my Bachelor's in Human Services I worked not only in the classroom but also as an elementary school tutor. During this time I worked closely with teachers to help not only reinforce the lessons from the classroom but to use different methods to assist students in understanding lessons.
I have been a preschool and kindergarten teacher for the last 6 years with various private school readiness programs as well as a teacher assistant in a public school setting for 5 years. During that period I was also an active tutor helping students to be successful as they continue their journey in education. My areas of specialty are elementary mathematics, reading, writing, and social studies. As a tutor I always strive to discover ways to get students interested in their studies and also to work closely with parents to ensure they are aware of each step in the process and as thrilled as I am for each step forward!
Working with children to understand math principles has been a part of my experience as a teacher for many years. Starting with basics of addition and subtraction all the way through algebra principles I have worked with students to help them understand the powerful effect mathematics has on their lives.
Language has always been a passion of mine. I enjoy learning new words and discovering the joy of creation through writing. As an avid reader, I strive to teach students about the joys of expression through writing and the worlds of creativity that can be found in books.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
For five years I studied Shaolin Kempo at the United Studio of Self Defense. During that time I was part of the "Red Belt" program which is an instructor in training position. I worked with the Sensei to implement drills and exercises in the class as well as instruct the children's class. I also, with permission taught basic martial arts at a school with permission from USSD.
