My name is William. I am interested in coaching (tutoring) high school and college aged (or older) students’ mathematics, computer, and writing skills. I take a hands-on approach to instruction and learning. I prefer to dive in head first and puzzle my way through challenges using tools like dictionaries, reference books, and similar enigmas as guides. Invaluable, to figuring my way out of a box is to reverse engineer it. I have empathy for people with learning differences, because I too struggled through a hearing and reading disability when I was young. I have been classically educated with a BA in Mathematics from Linfield College, as well as from one year of graduate Theological studies at George Fox University. I have an intermediate level understanding of Word and Excel (up to 2007). Further, I facilitated a creative writing workshop at Seattle Central Community College. I’m the managing editor of a literary magazine. And I’m also a published poet.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
