I like to make learning fun, and my method of teaching writing is particularly effective. I help students with their essays for lots of classes from middle school through grad school but especially English, AP History, AP Art History, Humanities, and Philosophy. I also find helping students improve their SAT and ACT scores and write winning college entrance essays very rewarding. The materials I use for improving reading, vocabulary, and grammar skills work quickly to improve scores. I have some great success stories. Let me know if you'd like to see my references. And while I'm not a native speaker of French, I love the language and culture and am experienced and successful at teaching introductory French in ways that make it fun for young or old. I also enjoy teaching introductory Spanish. I have several Spanish students currently that can tell you how I have helped them to succeed in their high school Spanish courses. Let me know if I can help!

Fun and knowledgeable

Julie is very fun and keeps things interesting as I read. Sometimes I feel like reading is monotone. I am learning how to change that. I will be asking for more lessens soon.

The Best Tutor I’ve Ever Worked With

Julie has been a phenomenal tutor the last year and a half we’ve been working together throughout my college experience. Because of her help, my grades have improved tremendously. Our sessions together consist of her helping with papers and readings assignments I struggle with. I haven’t met a tutor who is so dedicated to helping her students the way Julie has. I can’t thank you enough for everything, Julie! 100% would recommend to anyone who needs help with critical thinking assignments, papers, breaking down difficult readings, and analysis.

One of the best writing tutors on Wyzant

Julie H. Has been helping me with my writing. I first started using Julie as a tutor when applying for graduate school. I was totally clueless on how to write a statement of purpose, but Julie helped me get my thoughts down on paper and keep them organized. Thanks to Julie's lessons, I really feel that my writing skills have immensely improved.

Julie did a GREAT job!

My son is taking 1st year Spanish, and is having a difficult time. Julie helped him immensely. I cannot say enough good things about her tutoring skills. She made time at the last minute to help him with homework. We highly recommend Julie!

Very nice teacher

Julie taught me what I wished to improve: conversation skills. We had interesting lessons with some grammar. We talked a lot and it was fun and interesting. I really can recommend her!

Great Tutor!

Julie was an excellent mentor, and she helped my daughter remember a lot of words in the first class. It was really a surprise. My daughter is very keen to have more time with Julie to get her grades up.

Easy going, very helpful!

Julie helped my first year college student with an otherwise overwhelming research paper. Julie is laid back in her approach, yet highly competent. She assisted my daughter in organizing her thoughts, resulting in improved structure, grammar and overall content. We will definitely use her again!
