I took engineering series calculus in college just for fun. Math makes sense and flows in my head. Even though I am not as formally trained in my education in English and Writing, I can proof read and edit very well, as most of my jobs have required me to write quite a bit, including being a Contributing Writer for an online newspaper.

I used to be a substitute teacher for k-12 students in Elko County, Nevada. I have been accepted to a teaching credential/Masters program at the University of Oregon starting in June 2018. I miss teaching so I thought I would give tutoring a try.

I have had a wide variety of different types of jobs and experiences, from working at YouTube watching videos all day to counting rabbit poop in the back country of Wyoming. I believe that my diverse background in education, work and community service have made me highly adaptable to any students needs and learning abilities. I try to establish a relationship of trust and understanding with students by being more of a mentor than an instructor. A student's ability to feel at ease and comfortable is critical to their confidence in letting me know if they do not really understand the subject, or need me to explain something in a different way.

My favorite quote from a student: "You're a cool teacher because you actually care about us."

Patient and hardworking

I am in college and have trouble in algebra. Thankfully, April helped me obtain a better grade in my class. I would highly recommend April to others who struggle in anything, too!
