About Steven

I'm originally from Alaska, but I moved to the "Lower 48" approximately ten years ago to attend college. I completed my undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology at the University of Nevada Reno. It was at this point that I realized I wanted a greater challenge, and was offered an opportunity to work on an M.S. in physics while fully funded. After completing my thesis, I moved to Arizona to study biomedical engineering.

I completed my M.S. in biomedical engineering in May 2016 and spent the remaining summer traveling within the US and Alaska. Now I'm on the hunt for jobs. In the meantime, I'm tutoring.

In addition to taking these courses, I have previously tutored students in math.

I have a master's degree in physics. I had to learn the basics quickly and found that I have a knack for this type of material. Having learned it quickly, I know some effective methods for doing so. I have also taught three physics lab courses and coached students during office hours.

I have a very strong attention to detail when it comes to written word. I have experience in writing creative pieces, analytical essays, and scientific articles. I was in the 99th percentile on the GRE for the written section and always received high marks in my classes.

I'm currently on the hunt for a job in the tech industry in either Portland or Seattle, but in the meantime I thought this might be a good gig. Contact me if you want tutoring from someone easy going who isn't going to make you feel bad as we learn the subject at hand. Trust me, I know what it's like to feel like a poor performer in a subject. The solution is simply the right kind of exposure!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
