My name is Michael and I'm currently an 8th grade science teacher in the Salem Keizer Public School district. I have been teaching for over five years and have a passion for working with learners and helping students succeed. I also have experience working as a tutor for the school district in the subjects of math and language arts. What I like most about tutoring is that it is a one-on-one When I'm not teaching I enjoy the outdoors, playing music, and going to see new places.
I have experience tutoring students in math K-12. I also teach science which includes teaching some math concepts throughout the school year.
I cover biology as part of my 8th grade curriculum I teach annually. I also took biology classes in my college career.
I have spent a lot of time as a substitute teacher in elementary education. I have done two student teaching practicum at the 3rd and 5th grade level and am very comfortable teaching students of this age range.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
