About Casey

My name is Casey, I'm a professional CG Artist and a film major. I've worked with many different software packages, but I primarily work in Maya and Blender. I also have experience using NLE's such as Premiere Pro and experience with Adobe after effects, Photoshop and other products in the Adobe suite. Additionally I have experience with workflow design and optimization and pipeline planning and execution. I am passionate about film and learning new software that allows me to maximize my potential as a graphical artist and animator.

I have worked extensively in a number of 3D software packages including Sketch-Up, AutoCAD, Autodesk Maya, Blender, Agisoft Photo-scan, Substance Painter, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. I have also TA'd Willamette University's 3D animation in Maya course for two semesters.

As a film major I have studied film and photography extensively. I have experience in both analog and digital photography as well as videography and video editing. I regularly use video editing software and photo editing software as part of my pipeline in my work as a CG artist.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or requests you have about my education and skills.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Photoshop

I have done extensive work in photoshop as part of my pipeline as a CG artist. I use it mostly for post production, though I have also worked with it on a professional level as a component of a contract job. I have been working in photoshop for more than 5 years and am very familiar with the ins and outs of the application.

Autodesk Maya

I am qualified to tutor in Maya because in my time at Willamette I have completed all the courses the school offers on Maya, including one taught by a modeler who worked at dream-works prior to becoming a freelancer. Additionally I have been a TA for the school's Maya animation classes for 2 semesters and will be returning to TA again next semester when the course is offered. I have also worked extensively with Maya and other 3D modeling and animation packages as part of my job as a freelance CG artist and animator and have taken many courses outside of the school to learn more about this software. I am happy to submit records of my work as a TA and letters of recommendation from the professors who taught the 3D animation courses.

Film

I am qualified to tutor in film because I am a Film studies major and am 1 semester away from completing my undergraduate degree in film studies with an excellent GPA. Additionally I am currently working as a freelance CG artist with active contracts that require me to use my knowledge as a film major (scene setup, storyboarding, effective story telling etc.) as well as video editing software and CG software packages. I am happy to submit any documentation from the university that you require.

General Computer

As part of my job as a freelance CG artist I have to have extremely powerful computer hardware for animation and rendering, to get this hardware at a low cost I have built my own computer system that meets the specifications that I need. This means that I have advanced knowledge of computer hardware and how computers function, I have also learned a lot about various operating systems and their benefits and drawbacks.

Photography

I have extensive experience with both analog and digital photography both in high-school and in college. I have worked independently as a photographer as a smaller component of several other jobs. I also have extensive experience with Photoshop as part of my pipeline as a CG artist. Additionally I have been educated on photography and the history of photography in the course of completing my film major. I am happy to submit examples of my work and links to my portfolio site (once it is back online, it is currently undergoing maintenance).

Video Production

I am a film major and have experience in video editing as part of my pipeline for creating CG artwork. My freelance work includes prototype visualization and creating product demonstrations and commercials, this includes 3D animation and extensive video editing as well as audio mixing. Additionally I have successfully completed Willamette University's video art class. I am happy to attach a link to my demo reel site once it is back online, it is currently undergoing maintenance and a re-design however.
