Hello! I am a Stanford-educated math, English, biology, and test prep tutor with a major in Human Biology, minor in Studio Art, Master's degree in Education, and (expired) California multiple subject teaching credential. I am currently working toward a PhD in Animal Biology from UC Davis. I am comfortable tutoring students of all ages. I am friendly and patient and really enjoy building a relationship with my student. I tutor the PSAT, SAT, ACT, GRE, and more!

My teaching experience includes college-level instruction, informal science education, and tutoring. I teach Cell Biology at Portland Community College and taught biology to college students as a teaching assistant at UC Davis for 7 years. I have worked as an informal science educator at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma, WA, and at the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry in Portland, OR. In addition, I have been tutoring K - 12 students for over a decade. Over the years, I have worked for multiple professional tutoring centers, including Sylvan, Kaplan, C2, ClubZ, and Varsity Tutors.

Unfortunately, tutoring centers charge customers outrageous prices and pay their tutors comparatively little. I now choose to tutor independently because it provides the best value for both my students and myself. I offer tutoring center-quality tutoring at a fraction of the price.

I am a professional biologist who has taught science to people of all ages for over ten years. In particular, I specialize in inquiry-based science learning -- encouraging students to learn through exploration, experimentation, discovery, and fun. In addition to tutoring students in science, I have worked at two zoos and a science museum.

I have an undergraduate degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and am currently getting a PhD in Animal Biology from UC Davis. In the past, I have used molecular biology lab techniques to conduct research, and I now use the computer-based tools of bioinformatics. I teach Cell Biology at a community college and have worked as a teaching assistant for courses in biochemistry, physiology, and ecology, to name a few.

As a drawing teacher, I realize that low self-confidence is often the biggest hurdle for the beginning artist. I work with students to help them start out with successes to build their confidence. I enjoy in drawing in pencil and colored pencil, and in Adobe Illustrator.

Thank you so much for visiting my profile! Please feel free to reach out with questions. I am generally very flexible. I look forward to working with you.
