About Kelly

Bio

Hi, I'm Kelly! I have a B.A. and M.A. in Sociology, and a minor in Statistics, from Colorado State University. I've lived across the country from Portland, OR to New Haven, CT, and I'm an experienced tutor in Statistics, Research, Paper Writing, and Sociology. I've spent the past 7 years teaching and tutoring. For 2 years, while getting my graduate degree, I taught large classrooms of students and graded papers as a teaching assistant. Hi, I'm Kelly! I have a B.A. and M.A. in Sociology, and a minor in Statistics, from Colorado State University. I've lived across the country from Portland, OR to New Haven, CT, and I'm an experienced tutor in Statistics, Research, Paper Writing, and Sociology. I've spent the past 7 years teaching and tutoring. For 2 years, while getting my graduate degree, I taught large classrooms of students and graded papers as a teaching assistant. These years gave me a behind-the-scenes look at what teachers and professors look for in their assignments. I also realized I prefer working with students one-on-one rather than teaching in front of classrooms. We're able to make progress and get those 'aha' moments when someone finally understands! For the next 6 years, I continued teaching students as a professional tutor. I've helped high school students through PhD candidates pass their Statistics and Research courses and tutored over 200 students on home work, research skills, and test prep.

My teaching philosophy is to guide and show, not tell, students how to complete complex problems and assignments. This includes going through multiple examples to make theoretical concepts concrete and asking questions that allow the student to fully understand the concepts. Many of my students become long-term clients, because I am able to facilitate mastery of complex subjects. My students begin to feel comfortable and confident approaching new problems on their own.

Helped Me Pass Statistics With an A!!

Don't even waste your time looking at other statistics tutors: work with Kelly! I worked with Kelly 3-4 hours per week for 8 weeks, and thanks to her help I passed my college statistics course with an A-! I was SO nervous starting my statistics class, as math gives me an immense amount of anxiety, and I was extremely anxious about being able to pass the course. Kelly worked with me for 8 weeks, and is so incredibly patient and has a very calming influence for those of us who get very anxious about math! Kelly helped me through every single textbook chapter, and helped me on several statistics projects on Microsoft Excel. I learned so much about how to use Excel through her skillful instructions. She also is super nice and fun to talk to, and was cool when I may have uttered a few curse words every now and again haha. I got my final grade today, and I passed with an A-! Kelly is the reason I passed at all; and definitely the reason I passed with an A! Working with Kelly is the best choice for your statistics class :)
