Alex is a photojournalist currently based in Portland, Oregon working throughout the Pacific Northwest and further afield. He studied art history and film as an undergraduate and went on to obtain a master's in photojournalism and documentary photography.
For the past five years, he has been working as a freelance photographer and videographer, and his work is continually published in titles such as The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, TIME, Newsweek, Al Jazeera, The Washington Post, CBS, CNN, and Condé Nast Traveller. He is currently represented by SIPA Press and Associated Press.
He has taught photography workshops with National Geographic Student Expeditions, twice in his hometown of London, and once in Prague and teaches privately in Portland, Oregon.
He was awarded with a fellowship from the Institute for Journalism and Natural resources for their Sagebrush Country Institute to examine the story of the Greater Sage Grouse in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and Idaho in April of 2015.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students.
