About Jordan

Teaching has always been my passion. While still in college I began tutoring high school students in academic subjects. After graduation I was hired by a major test prep company and became their top grad test tutor and trainer. I transferred to their Shanghai branch where I developed and ran their graduate program. In 2007 I started my own test prep company in Shanghai, which became the largest English language test prep and learning center in the city.

I recently have moved back to the US and after years of splitting my focus between teaching and the business side of test prep I am ready to return to my first passion - teaching. I've always been very good tutoring on a 1-2-1 basis, especially with high scoring students. I think my major strength as a tutor has been the ability to convey difficult concepts in a manner that is easy to understand. Standardized tests can be scary but the key is to know that seemingly difficult questions are never more than a combination of easy concepts made to look far more difficult than they actually are.

Obviously knowing all the math concepts helps me be a good ACT Math tutor. However, what makes me an outstanding tutor, is my ability to take the "difficult question" (those last 10 or so) and show any student that you don't have to be a math genius to master these questions

The key to doing well on the ACT Science section is to pull relevant information from the passages efficiently as time is really tight in this section. I can show any student how to accomplish this by giving them the tools to do so.

I'm a grammar nut, though students don't have to be to do well in the ACT English section. What makes me a good teacher in this area is that I can show students the areas in which ACT puts the most focus, as well as knowing where to find the answers to different question types.

I have been a GMAT teacher for over 12 years, and have taken the real GMAT 4 times. I think what makes me an outstanding GMAT instructor is that, aside from my experience and familiarity with the test, I have the ability to take any difficult question and break it down in a way that illustrates that it is nothing more than a combination of straightforward concepts.

I look forward to helping you get the scores you need. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or further information - I'm always happy to help!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Study Skills

I have a long history of helping students study for both academic and test prep subjects. I started as a high school homework tutor in college and later as a test prep teacher for both teenagers and adults. I emphasize organization and reinforcement as the keys to improving both grades and knowledge.

Great LSAT Tutor! — For our first lesson, we went through one section of the LSAT and technquics on what to look for! He is a great tutor who is very patience, knowledgable, friendly, and will do anything asked from him depending on the way you learn. With his help I hope to increase my first LSAT score in the span of working with him for 10 days and hopefully around 6-7 hours. I really recommend him as your tutor si ...
