I have over 35 years' experience with individuals and groups at middle school, high school, college and adult levels--including professional--with a Master's Degree in Vocal Performance. My performing career has included opera, music theater, jazz, symphonic work and acting in Germany, Canada and the U.S.
I've worked with emerging singer-songwriters who've gone on to do professional work. Looking deeply into the interpretation of words and how to express them in music is a particular focus in my studio. There are at least two public performances a year for those who are ready, with many opportunities to explore performance skills in small groups. The individual lessons build technique, confidence, clarity, ease and expressiveness.
I'm happy to communicate with potential students by phone or email to cater the lessons to your needs. If you're not sure about starting, I recommend signing up for a single session to find out how it feels to you. The process involves us becoming a team, so the initial lesson can help let you know what might be possible with me. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master's Degree in Vocal Performance and have studied and taught sight singing for over 35 years. In addition, I am a composer of three operas, two choral cycles and many songs. This composing work supports my grasp of music theory and other skills needed for sight singing.

With a Master's degree in Vocal Performance and 35 years' experience teaching voice, I am well-qualified to continue this work at the middle school, high school, college, adult and professional levels. In addition, I've studied both piano and acting and have performed professionally in these skills along with singing. This work supports the vocal work in my studio.
