For over 20 years, I have taught Math and Science at a private grade school. This was a very rewarding experience. I believe adolescents need positive people who see their potential and help them attain it. I continue to have students return and share what the future has brought them. My tutoring experience includes working with both grade school and high school students.
I view each child as an individual and tailor my teaching style to meet the needs of the student. I work with students in a caring and instructive manner, finding inventive ways to introduce and develop concepts.
While I have always maintained a state teaching license, 2 years ago I earned my Math endorsement. Some of the many workshops I have attended include: Math in the Mind's Eye, Increasing Student Math Achievement, and How Math Teaching Matters. I believe math is not a spectator sport! I engage students so they develop a deeper understanding of the concepts.
I was introduced to my career as an educator by sharing science demonstrations in my children's classrooms. As a volunteer, I worked in grades 1 through 8. During this time, I earned my teaching certificate. This experience provided exposure to the entire grade school Science curriculum.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
