The Colorado College (Psychology)
Greetings! My name is Cameron, and I offer focused, low-stress, and fun tutoring sessions for those wanting to improve their Spanish and English language skills. In my sessions, we easily jump between practice in conversation and instruction in grammar, as both are key elements for learning new languages!
I've studied Spanish from a young age and completed my minor in Spanish literature at the Colorado College in 2011 (with a semester spent in Argentina to bolster my skills). After college, I worked and traveled in Mexico as an ESL teacher and tutor while further improving my knowledge of Spanish.
Yoga is a wonderful way to bring more focus and relaxation to your life's work and leisure. Aside from language sessions, I offer private classes in traditional Ashtanga yoga, which focuses on deep breathing and increasing strength and flexibility through the practice of postures. I've practiced yoga daily since 2010, and have learned from some of the best Ashtanga teachers in the USA and Mexico. Instructing yoga has brought me to Oregon, Colorado, and Minnesota. Greetings! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I completed a 100 hr. TEFL course through Oxford Seminars at the University of Oregon in 2012 and moved to San Luis Potosi, Mexico to teach ESL in 2013. I stayed for six months, and taught six days/week to professionals and students at all levels. I was responsible for lesson planning, homework, and all grading and evaluations for up to six classes/day.
In 2011, I earned my bachelor of arts, psychology degree from the Colorado College. I completed the department's rigorous course requirements and wrote a literature review thesis about ensuring teaching styles fit age groups' developmental needs. I feel confident tutoring in the following areas: Lifespan Development, Neuroscience, Cognition, Emotion, and Abnormal.
I studied Spanish in school beginning in the 6th grade until my graduation from college in 2011, when I earned a minor in Spanish literature at the Colorado College. I spent a semester as a full-time student at Argentina's National University of Cuyo, and lived for six months in Mexico working as an English teacher in San Luis Potosi. I've spent over a year of my life living and traveling in Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Spain, and Costa Rica.
When I was in college, I started learning traditional Ashtanga yoga at a place called Pranava Yoga Center in Colorado Springs. After practicing there for around 1.5 years and enrolling in their teacher training school, I was certified to teach in August 2011. Since that time I've taught classes in Colorado, Oregon, and Minnesota, and currently offer private Ashtanga sessions as of Summer 2014. I've practiced the Ashtanga vinyasa yoga system everyday for a few years now with some of the best teachers in Oregon and Mexico.
