University of Oregon (PPPM)
I have a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate and a bachelor's from the University of Oregon. Currently I teach ESL at Capstone English Mastery Center in Downtown Portland. In the past, I have tutored international students in English at the University of Oregon and taught English in Hong Kong. My total teaching and tutoring experience is four years. I can help you with reading, writing, grammar and phonics.
I try to be relaxed with my approach to tutoring. I believe it's best for you to feel comfortable with your skill level, as everyone is always at different stages and no one should feel pressured or stressed about their abilities. Once we recognize your skill level, we can make a plan to improve.
Do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions about myself or my experience. I look forward to meeting you! I have a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate and a bachelor's from the University of Oregon. Currently I teach ESL at Capstone English Mastery

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have completed a 100-hour TEFL certificate through the International TEFL and TESOL training.
I taught English in Hong Kong for a year and a half. During my time there I taught phonics lessons over the summer courses. Phonics was also a regular part of the curriculum for my regular kindergarten classes.
Reading comprehension was a basic part of the lessons I taught in Hong Kong. Most lessons would start with a story, after which questions about the story would be asked. I helped students answer the questions by carefully guiding them through the reading and helping them find where the answer was.
