I've had a passion for learning from a very young age and am enthusiastic for the opportunity to pass on that passion to current students. I am a graduate of the University of Oregon where I earned a B.S. in Journalism, with a double emphases in Newspaper Editorial and Magazine. I have been a published writer for most of my professional career, with work appearing in award winning publications, such as Portland Monthly Magazine, Sustainable Business Oregon and The Portland Business Journal, where I also worked as a copy editor. In addition to tutoring, I work as a freelance writer and teach after school classes at an elementary school in Southeast Portland and formally tutored ESL students in Eugene, Ore.
I specialize in writing, English, grammar, literature and SAT prep. I am prepared to help with everything from preparing for test, homework help, and improving writing and editing skills.
I look forward to hearing from you helping you with your studies! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently working as a paid after school teacher at Buckman Elementary where I work with students ranging from K to 5th grade.
