Students of all ages can learn to write well. I have been a tutor for over ten years and have helped students with essay writing including college admission essays. I also help them organize their busy lives. As a licensed psychotherapist, I know what gets in the way of learning and I know how to help students get over the hurtles that are blocking their progress. Anyone who has been given the tools can write powerful and effective essays, stories, articles, and poems.
I can help people of any age learn to write effectively. I have also coached students who have hit an emotional stumbling block and are having trouble getting to school. I can come to their house and help them organize assignments, and ultimately support them to feel empowered to return to school. I am a published poet with a book coming out in May of 2014. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with students from kindergarten through adulthood and I know what gets in the way of learning. I can help students get organized about their work and I can help them figure out how to prioritize what needs to be done when. I can work with students of all ages by teaching them strategies for success. I have a BA in English and a Masters in Psychology.
