Acting is my passion. Is it yours, too? I have over 20 years of experience in inspiring people like you to explore their talents and improve their self-confidence with acting. The theater is the place where we tell our stories. Strong, communicative actors are needed to tell those stories. My aim as a theater teacher has always been to encourage talent and develop physical and mental skills to serve the storytelling process. I can help you do just that, whether that story comes from a school play, a film role or a commercial gig.
As head of the youth company at the late Tygre's Heart Shakespeare Company, I taught scansion, voice and movement. I have directed and coached theater at Montessori schools in Portland, as well. I am an original co-founder and former artistic director of Portland's long running Theatre Vertigo, where I wore many hats, including actor, director and designer. Also, I have acted at Portland Center Stage, Stark Raving Theater, CoHo Productions and done dialect coaching for Artists Repertory Theater. I received an MFA in Acting from University of California, Davis where I studied under Eli Simon, who currently heads the acclaimed acting program at University of California, Irvine.
The opportunity to help you shine as an actor and communicate to an audience is one I cherish and I look forward to working with you. Let's get to work! Acting is my passion. Is it yours, too? In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
