About Donald

I'm a Portland based anthropologist specializing in applied ethnographic work.

I have conducted ethnographic research among hunter-gatherers and subsistence farmers in central Africa, among numerous Native American tribes in Oklahoma, and since 2001 with tribes in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon, including directly working for a Tribe for over eight years.

I specialize in ethnographic research with hunter-gatherers and Native Americans of the Northwest, and am also interested in linguistics and evolutionary anthropology.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
