Hi Y'all!

I'm Davey, an Industrial Engineering graduate from Georgia Tech and currently working on mastering my skills in Data Science at UC Berkeley. I have 7 years of experience in analytics, working with big names like Home Depot, Nike, and UPS. With over 300 hours of tutoring under my belt and more than 100 five-star reviews, I’m a pro at teaching Business Intelligence, specifically Tableau, Excel, SQL, and Python. And as a Sr. Manager of Analytics at Nike, I’m an expert at building dashboards and visualizations (Tableau Dcotor), process automation, analyses, and story-telling data to leadership. I’ve also managed several large and small teams of BI engineers and analysts throughout my career. I’ve helped train analysts who have had 0 analytics skill coming out of school to seasoned analytics managers. It’s my passion to help analytics professionals learn and move upward in their careers.

If you want a tutor who is very patient (I also like to think I’m funny) and will go to whatever lengths to help you understand mathematics, science, Excel, Tableau, SQL, business analytics, etc then I’m for you. I have a corny and fun sense of humor which helps make learning rigorous subjects not so terrible. I look forward to meeting you!

Outside of work, I’m a fitness enthusiast who enjoys working out and running.

Fun Fact About Me: I grew up in a Home Daycare Center for 18 years!

American History

While in High School I took AP US History. This was my favorite class I took. History is a passion of mine, and as I grow older, I travel more and more within the United States to really grab a grasp of the history and efforts it took to make this great nation. I received a 5 on the AP Exam, exempting me from taking the course in college. While applying for colleges, I took the US History SAT Subject test for fun, and to demonstrate my wealth of knowledge in American History.

Algebra 1

Graduating from Georgia Tech with an Engineering degree required a strong knowledge in the math and sciences. Getting into Georgia Tech alone requires an SAT Math score with a minimum of 690, so it takes a certain passion for math and numbers to get accepted. Also, participating in the number 1 program in the world for my major definitely tested my math and science knowledge, as one finds out quite quickly when arriving to Georgia Tech. I have always excelled in math, and was always in either honors, AP, or IB level math courses. In high school I took Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Geometry, and calculus. The knowledge I gained from these courses were expected and quickly put to use in every single Georgia Tech math and science course. The concepts from these courses will forever be ingrained into my head.
Calculus,

Calculus

While attending Georgia Tech, and receiving my Industrial Engineering degree, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, and Calculus 3 were all required courses of my curriculum. In addition to the three calculi, many courses demanded thorough knowledge of calculus principles. A few examples are: Physics 1, Physics 2, Simulation, Optimization, Stochastics, and Capital Investments I received either A's or B's in these courses. Having a good understanding of the foundation and principles of Calculus were essential for one to be successful in receiving an Industrial Engineering diploma from Georgia Tech.

Linear Algebra

I took Linear Algebra at Armstrong State University, which I received a B in. Then at Georgia Tech, I took Calculus 2, which has the linear algebra requirement for Industrial Engineering built into the curriculum. I received a B in this class as well. Linear Algebra at Georgia Tech is taught in an accelerated learning format. So all in all, I took the class twice. Many of the concepts in linear algebra are used in many classes throughout my Industrial Engineering curriculum, especially Physics/Physics 2 and any optimization classes. Solving multi-variable equations through matrices is expected knowledge in Georgia Tech engineering courses, which essentially is the foundation of Linear Algebra.

Honest tutor with many industry experiences

Davey taught me how analytics is applied in large corporations. His knowledge is more practical than what I've learned from my classes in business analytics because his teaching is based on his real work experiences. I've also known how to connect SQL to tableau and tell the whole story in an engaging way. Thank you, Davey.

Responsive, knowledgable, and a great teacher

Davey was responsive from the beginning and was able to review some materials before our session even happened. He took the time to show me how he thinks about data and then converts that into executing visualizations. He is not only knowledgable about Tableau, but his style is effective. He shows you not only how something needs to be done, but why it's done that way, which is the part that I needed the most help with. I definitely recommend him!
