Hi! And thank you for visiting my profile. I love helping students of all ages and backgrounds, and would very much enjoy working with you too. I know it can be tough to find the right tutor, so I'll try to make it as easy as possible for you to tell if we would be a good match.
I am a CRLA (College Reading & Learning Association) Master/Level III tutor, and a recent graduate of University of Houston-Victoria. There, I earned a B.A. in Humanities (English major, history minor) while, at the same time, working as a writing tutor. At the university's Academic Center I tutored students of all disciplines and at all levels: from Humanities to Nursing, freshman to graduate, I routinely addressed concerns pertaining to writing, study skills, and reading comprehension.
Even though I love the written word, obviously not everybody does. But be encouraged! Many of my past students simply hated writing as we began working together. But over a span of approximately 3,500 hours of tutoring so far, I have seen many students go from outright dread to competent writing. Others write well already but wish to do so even better. Whichever kind of student you are, we will work together toward your personal goals, and never with judgement or elitism.
Additionally, I am a gimlet-eyed proofreader, frequently catching errors in published works of all kinds to the annoyance of my wife . . . but only when she doesn't catch them herself first.
If you think that I would be a good tutor for either you or your child, I'm happy to answer any questions that would put your mind at ease about hiring a stranger. I have a lot of work experience, and can provide you with relevant professional and personal references. Just ask!
Thank you for reading! And I hope to hear from you soon.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
