Hi!
My name is Kate. I really enjoy working with students and helping them learn. I'm a special education teacher. I did my Masters in Elementary Education with a certification in Special Education. I have worked students with disabilities such as learning disabilities, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, emotional behavioral disabilities, and autism spectrum disorders both in a classroom setting and a tutoring setting. I also interact with students without disabilities on a regular basis at school. I'm very familiar with the Common Core Standards and the typical teaching strategies and language used in schools.
I have tutored for several years and have enjoyed all of my tutoring experiences. I have worked with students ages 7 to 16 on reading, math, writing, study skills, research skills, and general homework help. I have worked with the parents of the students that I tutor on making sure that their children are getting what they need to be successful at school. I have seen students make fantastic academic progress and take more enjoyment out of learning. I have see them gain more confidence in their academic abilities.
I pride myself on making learning fun for the students that I work with. I help students find their strengths and build their confidence. Fun, games, and laughter are an important part of my tutoring style because I like to show students that learning can be enjoyable. I get to know every student with whom I work. It is important to me to have a positive and trusting relationship with each student. I can tutor both individually and in small groups.
I’m happy to do a free meet and greet with you before starting tutoring, just to make sure that it feels like it will be a good fit.
I look forward to hearing from you!
