Hello! My name is Becca, and I recently completed my PhD in Biology with a focus on Ecology. I am passionate about helping students build confidence, improve their understanding of science, and develop strong critical thinking and writing skills.
Over the past 10 years, I have taught and mentored students in a variety of settings. As a Teaching Assistant and Head Teaching Assistant at Washington State University, I taught undergraduate biology and ecology laboratories, led exam review sessions, facilitated discussions, graded assignments, and provided one-on-one support to students with diverse learning styles and academic backgrounds. I have also mentored undergraduate researchers and technicians, helping them develop scientific, analytical, and communication skills.
My areas of expertise include Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Earth Science, Study Skills, Scientific Writing, Research Methods, and Academic Writing. I am particularly skilled at breaking down complex concepts into manageable pieces and helping students understand not only the "what" but also the "why" behind scientific ideas.
I work with middle school, high school, college, and adult learners. Whether you need help preparing for an exam, understanding challenging coursework, improving your writing, completing a research project, or building study strategies, I tailor each lesson to your individual needs and learning style.
My tutoring approach is supportive, patient, and collaborative. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is to help students gain confidence, become independent learners, and achieve their academic goals.
I look forward to helping you succeed!
