Hello! My name is Becca, and I recently completed my PhD in Biology with a focus on Ecology. I am passionate about helping students build confidence, improve their understanding of science, and develop strong critical thinking and writing skills.

Over the past 10 years, I have taught and mentored students in a variety of settings. As a Teaching Assistant and Head Teaching Assistant at Washington State University, I taught undergraduate biology and ecology laboratories, led exam review sessions, facilitated discussions, graded assignments, and provided one-on-one support to students with diverse learning styles and academic backgrounds. I have also mentored undergraduate researchers and technicians, helping them develop scientific, analytical, and communication skills.

My areas of expertise include Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Earth Science, Study Skills, Scientific Writing, Research Methods, and Academic Writing. I am particularly skilled at breaking down complex concepts into manageable pieces and helping students understand not only the "what" but also the "why" behind scientific ideas.

I work with middle school, high school, college, and adult learners. Whether you need help preparing for an exam, understanding challenging coursework, improving your writing, completing a research project, or building study strategies, I tailor each lesson to your individual needs and learning style.

My tutoring approach is supportive, patient, and collaborative. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is to help students gain confidence, become independent learners, and achieve their academic goals.
I look forward to helping you succeed!

Botany

I hold a PhD in Biology with expertise in plant ecology, botany, ecosystem science, and environmental biology. My research has focused extensively on plant communities, plant-soil interactions, succession, biodiversity, and ecosystem development in the Pacific Northwest. I have over 10 years of experience teaching and mentoring students in biology and ecology, including undergraduate laboratory instruction and one-on-one academic support. I enjoy helping students understand plant anatomy, physiology, identification, ecology, and evolution while building confidence in scientific thinking and problem-solving.
Environmental Science

Environmental Science

I hold a PhD in Biology with a specialization in ecology and environmental science. My research and professional experience span ecosystem ecology, climate change, biodiversity, conservation, soil science, environmental monitoring, and natural resource management. I have more than 10 years of experience teaching and mentoring students in biology, ecology, and environmental science at the college level, while also conducting field and laboratory research throughout the Pacific Northwest. I enjoy helping students connect scientific concepts to real-world environmental challenges and develop the critical thinking skills needed for academic success.
Essay Writing

I hold a PhD in Biology and have extensive experience writing and editing academic papers, essays, research manuscripts, grant proposals, and dissertations. Over the past 10 years, I have helped students strengthen their writing skills by improving organization, argument development, clarity, grammar, and critical thinking. I work with middle school, high school, college, and graduate students on everything from basic essay structure to advanced research writing. My goal is to help students become confident writers who can clearly communicate their ideas and develop strong, well-supported arguments.
Nutrition

Nutrition

I hold a PhD in Biology and have extensive training in biological sciences, including physiology, ecology, metabolism, and the interactions between diet, health, and the environment. Through my teaching experience, I have helped students understand topics such as macronutrients, micronutrients, digestion, energy balance, metabolism, and evidence-based nutrition. I enjoy helping students break down complex scientific concepts into understandable, practical knowledge while strengthening their critical thinking and study skills. My approach focuses on building a strong foundation in nutritional science rather than memorization alone.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

I recently completed my PhD and have extensive experience writing, editing, and publishing scientific research. Throughout my academic career, I have written dissertations, journal manuscripts, literature reviews, research proposals, grant applications, and conference presentations. I help students develop strong academic writing skills, organize complex ideas, improve clarity and flow, strengthen arguments, and navigate the thesis or dissertation process from proposal to final submission. My goal is to help students become more confident, independent writers while producing polished, professional academic work.
Zoology
