Clackamas Community College (Business)
Do you need help with computers or communication? I graduated from Clackamas Community College with my Associate of Science in Business. While there I competed on the college speech & debate team on a national level for 3 years and achieved numerous awards. My extensive experience with computers officially began in 2004 and since then, I have worked in electronic sales for a major retailer for 7 years. In 2008 I started my own business in computer repair/tech support and have worked for doctors, businesses, as well as individuals. I am confident with every Microsoft OS from XP on and extremely comfortable with the newest Microsoft OS, Windows 8. Routinely, I troubleshoot, repair, remove viruses, solve networking issues, install new computers, and effectively train users in their new machines. Due to my background in communication, my clients have found me able to take complicated computing issues and make them understandable. I maintain my cutting edge knowledge by attending Microsoft, Intel, and other PC specialized training workshops, as well as online certifications.
Additionally, I am available to train students in effective communication strategies to improve their skill sets. It is my firm belief that communicating is essential to success in every area of life, and I can help students to understand nonverbal, informative, persuasive, and presentational skills. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken numerous computer classes while going to Clackamas Community college. After finishing at Clackamas I continued on at Portland Community College in their excellent Computer Science department. I have since worked for over seven years for a major retailer in computer and electronic sales. Five years ago I started my own business where I provide onsite troubleshooting, repair, and training for businesses and individuals. I have relied on word of mouth and have many repeat clients. I have kept up-to-date with the changing nature of computer technology by taking Microsoft, Intel, AMD, and HP training both online as well as at live training events.
I have been working with computer networking, both LAN and WLAN, for over 10 years. The company I started actually was design primarily to help businesses with networking setup and operating issues. I know the best ways to get home or business connected to the internet either with traditional wired as well as all flavors of the wireless 802.11b/g/n standards. I can help secure your network with extremely tough passwords as well as maximize your home data connection. I have taken classes over the years to make sure that I am current with all networking standards.
Over the course of my life I have been active competitor in two different speech and debate teams spanning a total of over 5 years. While on the Clackamas Community College team I competed on both the regional and national level for 3 years and achieved numerous awards. I have since given speeches before organizations and groups multiple times a year. I have also been active as a tutor and judge since my competition days and have given advice to teams who went on to compete at the national tournaments. I feel that public speaking is one of the most important skills that people do not take the time to learn. I can help at both platform speaking as well as impromptu speeches. All of these are great ways to prepare for the future by showing bosses and coworkers that you are leadership material. I look forward to helping you conquer any fears you might have at the thought of speaking in front of others.
