Hello! I am a former teacher and current Behavior Intervention Specialist who just can't shake the joy of tutoring, which I have been doing in some capacity since I was in high school (I like to say I have a gray hair for every student taught, and for someone 30 years young, it's really starting to show!). In particular, I am passionate about surprising kids with their own capability, especially if they have exceptional qualities that have led them to doubt their ability to learn. I'm also a...

I'm also a big kid at heart, and keep things upbeat and fun (and at times a bit zany).

I am certified to teach English, Math, and Social Studies, Pre-K through 12, and have experience teaching theatre and coaching soccer. I have worked with an extremely diverse array of students, including students of all ages, those with various disabilities, those who are English language learners, and those from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.

I am also a certified Behavior Intervention Specialist, with nearly 3 years of experience working one-on-one with students on the Autism Spectrum. I have experience working with kids between ages 3 and 17, and at all levels of ability. My experience includes working with individuals whose ASD is accompanied by other disabilities, including Downs Syndrome, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, TBI, and Generalized Learning Disability.

Wherever your student is, and whatever makes them exceptional, I look forward to working with them and helping them realize how capable they are and how fun learning can be.

In college I took classes in Theology and pursued my own rigorous study of scripture and theology, including working through much of Systematic Theology. During that time I served as a paid private tutor for a student looking to excel in their high school Theology course, among other subjects. For two years I taught youth Sunday school and served as the head of youth ministries at my small church before eventually joining another church body. During that time I served as an AWANAS instructor and directed a week-long faith-based soccer camp in the community. I am currently flying to Dallas monthly to lead the soccer division of a faith-based sports program meant to share the Gospel with elementary and middle school children. My beliefs are consistent with orthodox Protestantism, though I also attended a Catholic university and have training in and familiarity with Catholic theology.

My initial qualification began with taking courses and trainings related to ASD as part of my Secondary Education major and teacher certification. It was strengthened by experience in SPED classrooms and with students who had ASD-related accomodations on their IEPs for Gen-Ed classrooms over the four years that I taught English, Theatre, Math, and Social Studies in the classroom setting. I eventually pursued certification in ABA therapy and have worked as a Behavior Intervention Specialist for students with developmental disabilities over the last 2.5 years.
