My 12 years of experience in human resource and risk management include these highlights: key member of Transition Team for a golf course owner and operator with an increase in net worth of over $100,000,000 in a 16-month period; key team member and trainer of line supervisors to implement a managed care plan across a dozen business units, affecting approximately 5,000 employees; and team member responsible for the benefits portion of merging seven disparate human resource information systems into one standardized HRIS. I have taught as an adjunct professor, Entrepreneurship Certificate Program for Central Texas College distance learning onsite at Sheridan Federal Correctional Institution. Not only have I actively participated in the purchase, sale, creation, and management of small businesses, I have also taught college-level courses in Small Business Management, Salesmanship, Human Resource Management and Business Math. Certified Professional in Human Resource Management, 1992-1997

I absolutely love public speaking and can empathize with those who fear it more than death. Opportunities to speak publicly are always welcomed. Public speaking engagements of mine include: 8th grade promotion, middle school recognition ceremonies, and presentations to employee groups when I worked in human resource management and in business settings. In addition, I have taught the required speech component as a semester-long course to freshmen at Dayton High School, Oregon. I am ordained through the Universal Life Church to conduct marriage ceremonies.

Elementary Education

Elementary (K-6th),

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a highly qualified teacher with an active Oregon Initial II teaching license. This license qualifies me to teach grades 5-12 in several areas. I do have a full year of experience with a self-contained classroom of sixth graders, and I learned much about those students, what works and what does not work.
Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

I'm a highly qualified (under Federal guidelines) math teacher, beginning with grade 5. I have additional coursework beyond those requirements in the pedagogy of teaching math. This provides many opportunities to apply those practices that yield good results. Examples of such practices include: using flashcards for vocabulary and numerous activities with a multiplication table, including least common factor, proportions, and how to divide!
Reading,

Reading

I have taught the REWARDS reading intervention program to 7th and 8th graders. My training beyond my college degree includes SIOP, an intensive language-based enrichment program, and several years teaching language arts and literature in two Oregon school districts. As a tutor, I use current assessment materials to determine the fluency, comprehension and vocabulary level for a student. I love helping children discover the beauty and power of language, both written and spoken. And finally, when working with students, we always find subject matter that is interesting, relevant, and age-appropriate.

Willing to go the extra mile

Keith has tutored our son in Algebra I and Geometry, prior to and throughout the pandemic shut-down. He has been amazing, both flexible with scheduling and able to approach topics in different ways. Keith was even willing to regularly communicate with our son's teacher in order to support him as a team. I can't recommend Keith highly enough! - Diane (56 lessons with Keith)

Adaptable, patient math tutor

Keith has been teaching math to my two boys, ages 6 and 8, once a week for the past 5 months. My boys love their lessons with Keith and have been improving significantly. When Keith observed that the whiteboard feature wasn’t ideal for my young sons, who are easily distracted, Keith quickly adapted, and transitioned to paper and pencil, finding a way to make that format work well online. I highly recommend Keith as a math tutor.

Kind and patient tutor

Keith worked with my 8th grader on alegbra 1 homework. She missed a lot of instruction last year due to covid, is in a new school district now, and is struggling to fill in the gaps in her math education, but Keith was extremely patient with her and allowed her to work out the solutions on her own. We really appreciate the help.

Knowledgeable, Patient & Enthusiastic!!

Zaire has been trying out different tutors over the last two weeks and we’ve been trying to find the “right fit.” After today’s session Zaire was upbeat, confident and eager to continue learning new math concepts. He is convinced that “Keith” is the “one”.... I can’t wait to see how my boy continues to progress over the next year. Thanks Keith!

Fantastic Tutor!

Our son used Keith this past week and afterwards, he emerged from his session grinning from ear-to-ear! Working with Keith lifted the weight of the world off of his shoulders. Keith did a masterful job of clarifying concepts to him. I only wish that we had found him earlier in the (Summer) School year. We will absolutely use him going forward.

Lifesaver

I forgot Algebra promptly after college and my daughter was really struggling trying to attend class remotely during this pandemic. Keith to the rescue! He was patient and able to help her understand the concepts without actually giving her the answers. Just what she needed to gain confidence! Highly recommend!

Good guy great tudor

Keith has taken my son on for math tutoring since school has been down... He is very knowledgeable and able to use that to explain things in ways my child can understand . I find that he is very patient with my child and able to lead him to the right answers without giving them to him. In a short time he has started to build confidence in his math skills , which is priceless in itself. Keith is always on time and always available to be contacted, he is friendly and easy to talk to ...my son likes that about him the most.

Excellent Tutor!

Keith has worked with me for a couple lessons now, and he's been incredible! He's been working with me to improve my ASVAB scores. Keith has been working with me on my math, and arithmetic reasoning skills. He has been very patient with me and is fantastic at teaching me new and easier ways to complete problems. I'd recommend Keith to anyone who is wanting to improve themselves in any subject!
