Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Linear Algebra

As an instructor in the department of math, University of Portland, I specialize in teaching statistics, as well as pre-calculus and calculus. I greatly enjoy working with students 1-on-1, and bring a life-long love of math to my tutoring. 25+ years of programming and engineering in the computer industry adds a solid practical approach to my tutoring.

R

I use R in my own machine learning and statistics research, and some of the results are taken to the classroom at the University of Portland for instruction. I will be happy to submit examples of my R programming, as needed.

Great tutor!

Michael was an amazing tutor. I was terrified of statistics and had zero understanding of it. I had to learn an entire book in 8 short weeks! Thanks to Michael's patience and great teaching skills, I completed the class with an A. I highly recommend him as a tutor!
