About Valorie

Bio

I was first interested in special education when I got a job working at Fairview in 1975, which at the time was the state institution for children and adults with special needs in Oregon. It was difficult to see them stuck like that.

After moving to Los Angeles in 1979, I started working as a special education assistant which I liked very much because I could see the difference I could make in the children’s lives.

I worked as an assistant for many years as I completed my college degree...

I worked as an assistant for many years as I completed my college degree for teaching. I have been licensed as a special education teacher for 20 years. I taught a life skills class for 3 years and have been an Autism Specialist for 17 years.

Working with students with special needs has taught me how to approach a subject and modify it for each student for the best learning possible.

I have enjoyed my career very much, even with the up and downs of finances in education. What I still love best is working with children to help them learn.

Sincerely,
Valorie
