My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education from Southern Oregon University and completed my teacher prep program at California Lutheran University. During my school experience I worked with all elementary grade levels, special education, and ELL, as well as had the opportunity to differentiate information for small groups and individual students to ensure their success and am able to do this for all subjects.

As an elementary teacher credentialed in the state of California, I was required to take the RICA (Reading Instruction Competence Assessment) test, which I passed. This test covers all areas of teaching reaching skills, including phonics and phonemic awareness. Before my teacher preparation program allowed me to take this test I was required to do a case study of a student in my student teaching placement where I diagnosed his needs and developed and implemented lessons to meet those needs. Phonics and Phonemic Awareness were his strongest needs and he improved in both areas.
