Hi! My name is Chuck. I have taught high school and college while working as an environmental scientist, and co-developing the Northwest Center for Sustainable Resources who teach classes about the world of sustainable resources. I love teaching and have taught and tutored at two high schools and three universities since receiving my MBA and PhD.
My goal as an instructor is to ensure that the student is comfortable with the material, understands the theory/process behind it, and through whatever means available (rote, practice, modeling, schematics, discussion, debate, visual exploration or kinetic exercise) is able to demonstrate that understanding. When teaching, I explore a concept by discussion with the student(s), then demonstrate several applications of the topic, and finally provide practical problems/exercises for review.
In this way, I try to engage students in the subject matter while they strive for competency as well as confidence in the material - even enjoy it(!). Throughout my years as an instructor, I have had the opportunity to work with students of all levels of capability. It is my hope to facilitate their efforts so that they may attain the goals they have set for themselves and advance into their chosen careers. Hi! My name is Chuck. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
