Bio

I'm a mathematics major with a year of tutoring experience including calculus, high school and college algebra, trig, geometry, finite math, and precalc. I have a thorough understanding of each of these subjects through a combination of classroom and self-study. I got a GED at age 16 and have been studying mathematics independently and at a college level since then. I'm currently attending University of Oregon where I'm a junior.

I'm a mathematics major with a year of tutoring experience including calculus, high school and college algebra, trig, geometry, finite math, and precalc. I have a thorough understanding of each of these subjects through a combination of classroom and self-study. I got a GED at age 16 and have been studying mathematics independently and at a college level since then. I'm currently attending University of Oregon where I'm a junior.

My approach to tutoring is to ask students relevant questions about their knowledge of a subject and then help them with problematic areas where they're still struggling. I focus on understanding the learning styles of individual students to help them better solve problems. I also present clear explanations on how to solve a problem and discuss back and forth with students until solution methods become more clear. I believe it's important to talk to students about a problem until a genuine understanding of that problem is reached.

As someone who greatly improved their mathematical skills with a tutor's assistance, I believe in the power of tutoring to change our lives for the better. I greatly struggled with mathematics in middle school and later became a much stronger student through persistence and dedication, so I know what it's like to struggle with mathematics from firsthand experience. I know that math is made especially challenging by confusing textbooks or difficult instructors, which is why I want to supplement people's learning by offering them a tutoring experience that's tailored to their personal abilities and learning methods.

I will be happy to answer any questions you might have about my qualifications as a tutor. I also welcome any feedback or advice including (especially) from clients. I will answer any requests for tutoring within 2 hours of sending them.

Adapts to student's pace

Aaron was able to pick up exactly where I was in my Trigonometry course and was able to teach the concepts to me better than my book or professor was able to. He is also very easy to communicate with in lessons and through messages and is great at changing up his schedule to fit your preferred meeting time. Overall a great tutor for a great price.
