Presentation, Practice and Production! These are the 3 P's of learning that I like to abide by in my teaching. A good tutor is someone who can explain, clarify and guide students through material; one who will give students a chance to practice, practice, practice what they've learned, and one who will lead students to producing their own work and results!

Presentation, Practice and Production! These are the 3 P's of learning that I like to abide by in my teaching. A good tutor is someone who can explain, clarify and guide students through material; one who will give students a chance to practice, practice, practice what they've learned, and one who will lead students to producing their own work and results!
My name is Chelsea, and I'm someone who has decided to pursue teaching as a career. I'm a graduate of Cornell University, where I studied Food Science (a blend of chemistry, engineering, and microbiology as it pertains to food safety, packaging, and the creation of new and healthier food products).
After graduation, I moved to Japan and spent 2.5 years teaching English to toddlers, elementary school students, junior high school students, and adults. I learned how to explain, clarify and check for understanding in students who didn't understand English, and how to create lessons geared towards all age groups.
I've tutored numerous students in multiple subjects: high school students in algebra and geometry classes, student athletes in calculus classes, adults in math and science prep for the Praxis and ACT tests, toddlers in basic math and writing skills, and both children and adults in English as a second language.
At the moment, I am employed as a middle school math teacher, and hold a dual-certification to teach both math and chemistry. I have taught algebra in a public high school in the state of Mississippi for two years, and am familiar with Common Core. I am now located in Oregon, and have taught both math and science. I have over 5 years of classroom experience in the US.
I look forward to hearing from you!
