I am an experienced technology professional that enjoys helping others learn. I also help mentor individuals trying to start up their own businesses and/or have start-up questions and issues. I understand that an individual can become frustrated when they, for whatever reasons, feel like they are at an impasse and need to reach out for assistance. I'm very patient and non-judgmental because I have been there myself.
My approach in helping others is much like how I approach business situations where improvement is required. I determine the current situation and this becomes the baseline. I determine the goal (or objective) desired. The difference between the baseline and the goal becomes the gap and from this gap the requirements can be determined that will remove this gap and achieve (or exceed) the desired goals.
Depending on the project I have to utilize various levels of mathematics, business principles, and quality metrics. I advocate efficient and effective processes, which for tutoring mean no dragged-out plans; the most efficient, effective, and beneficial means to attain the goal.
I have home schooled both my son and daughter during elementary grades, now grown and on their own, with my daughter testing consistently in the top 5 percent of SAT scores and my son in the top 15 percent.
I am proficient with a variety of computer languages, operating systems, hardware, software, and various other aspects of the information technology business sector. In addition to experience I hold the following certifications: Professional in Healthcare Information Systems (CPHIMS), Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Black Belt, Sarbanes Oxley Expert, Business Systems Analyst, HIPAA Security Certificate of completion.
I currently design and develop mobile applications as an independent developer and have four such apps available in the Apple and Android market place. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
C is the 4th language I learned and the 1st to bring me profit. I started a software company called "WestComp" located in Upland, Ca. I created games and utilities for the Zenith computer systems - all with C. I've sold a Prolog interpreter created in C and a book which was sold separately: ISBN-13: 978-0934259101.
I programed a LISP interpreter in C (called CLISP) which was bought by many major companies - including NASA. Springer has a PDF document "List of Commercial or Field tested Tools and Systems" which has my software listed. If you need, I can send you the link or PDF file.
Have a BSCS (computer science), have working experience in C, C#, Java, Lua, other proprietary languages. Have been creating mobile apps over the past three years for Apple and Android (Google) devices (just Google "David Lovison app store".
Most of my software design and development has been in "exotic" fields such as medical imaging and analysis as an employee of Toshiba medical and as a consultant.

Several of these apps utilize servers registered to me and I self program these using PHP and MySql to manage databases, image exchange between apps and servers, and user authenticity (i.e., user name and password control).
Tools I currently use are "Coda", "PHPStorm", and "UltraEdit" to program the server side PHP code from my home.
