I have substantial experience as a tutor. In college, I've worked as a teaching assistant within the Earth Sciences department, helping undergraduates to understand challenging concepts in math and geology both individually and in small groups. I also worked as a tutor in high school. My experience has given me an idea of the different learning styles and academic support needs of students.
I believe that the best tutors are patient and thorough with their teaching, explaining a concept fully to a student and making connections to their prior knowledge. Problem-solving skills are cumulative and relevant, no matter what discipline a student is interested in.
