I am currently working on a doctorate in Kinesiology and just finished a second Master's degree (first one in Exercise Physiology) in Biostatistics. I have experience teaching a 400 level kinesiology class, experience teaching anatomy labs, and over 7 years of various teaching assistant positions (anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology, statistics, kinesiology). I am very familiar with most sciences, statistics, and computer related questions.
I enjoy being active outdoors which means that I love to run and bike. I've completed running races up to 50km in distance and have cycled multiple centuries (100+ miles). I have also completed two tours down the Oregon and California coasts by bicycle while camping along the way. I was a college athlete during my undergraduate years as a pitcher for the baseball team. I also enjoy playing with technology outside of school which includes things like building things with Raspberry Pis, Linux sysadmin work, network engineering and security, and volunteering for non-profits to run their IT and websites. I played college baseball as an undergraduate for 4 years and was selected as a 1st team all-conference pitcher my senior year. In high school, I was a conference all-star and conference pitcher of the year. I have also coached for the past 10 years from ages 5-19 with Parks and Rec, high school, and legion baseball programs.
I have two classes to complete this year to finish my Master's degree in Biostatistics. My training in this program as well as through my research experiences have given me the skills to help others with statistics.
I have taken several computer science classes in college and online. I have worked directly in computer science, specifically computer programming. I have experience in a couple different programming languages and can also help with other computer science topics such as understanding hardware, software, and other computer science related topics. I have tutored college level CS students within the last year as well.
I have degrees in exercise science, have a strong personal background in fitness, and have taken an online wellness coaching training (12 weeks). I maintain my personal fitness through long distance cycling, distance running, basketball, volleyball, yoga, and other activities. My coursework in fitness and experience attending professional fitness conferences make me a great fit.
I have been using a variety of Linux OS for several years now. I have also gone through the Edx course on Linux. Additionally I am studying for a Linux Sysadmin certification through the Linux foundation.
I have been using a Mac for several years now and also worked at an IT consulting agency where we performed service on Macs. I also help people in the community become familiar with Macs, software, hardware, etc.
I have taken multiple nutrition classes during my academic career during my undergraduate, masters, and now doctorate level training in exercise and sport science. Nutrition is a key component of my field and we have been given exposure to the core principles of nutrition.
I have over 7 years of A&P tutoring or teaching. Two masters degrees while writing on doctoral degree in human sciences.
I have experience working with the SAS programming language for statistical analysis over the past year. I have taken several courses using the statistical programming language and often helped other students in the classes with the syntax and programming skills.
