I believe in an interactive appproach to tutoring. I want the student to feel relaxed and receptive and I will try hard to foster this atmosphere. I want the student to feel free to ask questions at any time. It is important to resolve any issues as they arise.
I have done three years of mathematics at university and I feel comfortable teaching this subject. I am currently teaching computer classes to adults at the local college. the topics included are basic windows as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook).
I have also had experience trouble shooting computer systems and networks. Many people have issues with spyware and viruses, I have experience resolving these issues. I have also had experience in this environment tutoring people on various computer related topics. I believe in an interactive appproach to tutoring. Patrick has done well with the math lessons for our two grandsons, especially since they had poor math skills going into the lessons. As result of before and after tests, we have seen improvement. We think his efforts will give them a good start with their math classes in school.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Familiarity with all versions of outlook. The following topics can be handled.
1. Setting up email accounts, pop, web based and exchange.
2. Setting up folders and organizing mail in them.
3. Setting up or editing rules to sort and direct mail.
4. Handling junk mail and teaching outlook to recognize which is junk.
5. Setting up archiving of older items and how to handle them.
6. Organizing contacts and groups within contacts.
7. Creating calendar items and reminders.
8. General questions regarding outlook and interface with office.
I am familiar with setting up and trouble shooting local area networks both wired and wireless. This involves programming routers and trouble shooting router programs. I can handle peer to peer networks or client server networks. There are many types of configuration these networks can have and I am familiar with most of them.
I am familiar with setting up VPN's and trouble shooting problems with them, also programming routers to handle them. Other applications such as remote desktop, file and printer sharing can be set up and analyzed for problems.
