About Flint

While studying Applied Physics at Linfield College, I have developed an interest with semiconductor applications and I hope to one day turn this interest into a career.

At school, my curriculum has allowed me to study subjects such as material strength, circuits, computational physics, and allowed me to work with semiconductors while researching the properties of graphene and their ability as a biosensor. I believe that my studies and previous experiences make me an ideal candidate for this position.

As I stated earlier I have spent the better part of the past 10 months working directly with semiconductors throughout my research experience. I have gained experience understanding the properties of graphene, worked using photolithography on silicon chips to create graphene biosensors, and tested/analyzed the data from the devices.

Last year I took both semesters of Circuits and Chemistry expanding my knowledge of semiconductors, electronics, and the use of chemical solutions. As a student, my studies have allowed to increase my knowledge of both the electrical and mechanical engineering fields.

I am proficient with Microsoft Office as well as MatLab, LabView, and have some experience with Arduino (very similar to Java) if organization, computation, or modeling is needed. Through courses such as: statics and dynamics, strength in materials, and mechanics of materials, I now have a good understanding of materials, their creation process, structure, and application. The past summer of full time research and the continued research experience have enhanced my knowledge of semiconductors.

I have a math minor from Linfield College. Due, to my applied physics major I had to apply most of the math from my math minor to my physics classes commonly. Also, on my own time I often tutored calculus I and calculus II students.

I have a bachelors degree in applied physics from Linfield College. I have worked as a teaching assistant for multiple lab courses and been a research assistant for the college. My research was specifically dealing with the sensitivity of graphene biosensors.
