About Ryan

Hi there!

I'm Ryan, I'm a music and English tutor who is pursuing a dual-enrollment teaching certification and looking for tutoring students to supplement my career with the Beaverton School District. I'm looking for students who really need help with areas of struggle who want to push themselves to the next level and make their dreams and goals into reality. Every student has the opportunity to do great things with their intelligence and creativity and it is my honor to help them get there.

I started my tutoring career about 5 years ago when I began to offer guitar and music theory lessons. This expanded to English reading and composition tutoring and eventually I began my studies at PCC while duly enrolled at OSU for teaching certification. I am currently employed by the Beaverton SD working in Special Education. I specialize in working with low to severely impacted students with all types of developmental disabilities, crisis de-escalation and crisis management, as well as academic and behavioral improvement.

I also offer music theory lessons and can help my students nail those upcoming auditions, juries, or to the next level of playing. I only ask $40/hr for music lessons.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

General Computer

I have been working with computer systems, both soft and hardware, extensively, for the last 16 years.

Reading

I have exemplary Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English. I teach elementary English in both special education and regular education rooms.

Special Needs

I have been working with individuals with developmental disabilities both professionally and personally. My sister suffered a traumatic brain injury in an auto accident and I have taken charge in overseeing much of her medical and personal needs, and have done so for 15 years.

I also am employed by the Beaverton School District and work in Special Education academic and behavioral rooms for low to highly impacted students of all types of Developmental Disabilities.

Writing

I started my writing career very early in Middle School; I wrote short stories and radio-programming for a mock-radio station. This developed into essay writing in High School; I entered into numerous essay contests, three of which I won first place, all of those times being published in national high school showcase periodicals. I began writing longer stories, a few novellas and have worked professionally as a proofreader and editor for an advertising agency and for a Recording Studio Engineer/Blogwriter.
