Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

Many of my students had dual diagnoses which included ADD/ADHD. I was part of the team that assessed and wrote goals for Behavior Support Plans for students with ADD/ADHD. As a Full Inclusion Specialist, I supported students and teachers with students with ADD/ADHD.

Elementary Math

As a full inclusion specialist, I worked with teachers and students with math challenges. I assessed students using standardized and informal protocols. Assessment is important to get to know what strategies work best for individual students who may have different learning styles. Based on assessment I can document students present levels of performance then determine what prerequisite steps they need to meet their goals.

I tutored students in phonics, reading and comprehension while in graduate school.

Reading

I passed the RICA, a test for teachers to effectively teach reading. I use a systematic approach based on student's present levels of performance. I assess students preferred learning style to determine the best techniques to make reading more interesting and accessible.

I have tutored a number of students in reading while serving as full inclusion specialist. I am very passionate and enthusiastic about reading which greatly benefits my students

Study Skills

I have performed standardized assessments and written IEP goals for students with Executive Function challenges. Executive Function skills include the ability to plan, prioritize, organize, pay attention and remember details and control emotional reactions in stressful situations.
