Guten Tag, Hello! My name is Jula and I am your German Teacher Anywhere! I offer lessons in conversational German for beginner, intermediate and advanced students anywhere in the United States and beyond. As a native German speaker living most of my life in Germany, I know about German culture, character and language. Having over 20 years experience in teaching German language to students of various ages, countries and cultures, I customize my approach based on each student’s unique needs and learning style. I have a passion for motivating students and supporting the individual. We will use varied learning modalities—kinesthetic, audio, visual—to fully embrace the German language, bringing joy and diversity to each lesson.
I offer German Conversational Language Training for individuals, couples, businesses or groups at your home or office in Southern Oregon, or distance learning through Skype. Scheduling is flexible based upon your needs and time zone.
Native German speaker; German diploma in Pedagogy (Bachelor of Arts); Goethe Certificate; teaching experience with international students from age 16-70 in integration classes Hamburg/Germany
I taught German for beginners until level B1/2 and C1 in the GER/Europe, similar to the TOEFL, and prepared students successfully for those test in special preparing classes. I was also qualified to test students for the oral exam B1/2 and C1
I worked with Jula for several months in late 2014 in order to prepare for a German test given by my job to assess potential applicants who wanted to work in Germany. The test focused on speaking and listening, and specifically giving oral presentations. I already spoke German well, but needed to move it from good to great.
Jula and I worked over Skype from different states, and sometimes from different countries when either she or I were traveling. She tailored her classes to my requirements, and provided specific and in depth notes regarding where I had made mistakes in grammar, vocabulary and syntax, and how I should correct them. Even after the class itself, she would write detailed reports on what I needed to improve, so I could print them out and study them in depth. I ended up passing my test and will soon be headed for Germany.
I have worked with many German tutors in the past, and Jula is by far the best due to her flexibility, dedication and desire for her students to succeed. I would definitely recommend her for German students at any level.
Jula establishes an immediate rapport with students that puts them at ease and encourages them to express themselves freely in German without feeling so self-conscious about making mistakes. She brings all of the advantages of being a native speaker to her work in the classroom, and her German is clearly enunciated and spoken at a moderate tempo that allows learners to understand clearly what is being conveyed. In short, Jula is a gifted and experienced teacher who obviously takes a very personal interest in her students as fellow human beings, and they sense that immediately. It’s a rare gift.”

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
