I have over ten years of experience in higher education helping students with their writing. In my various roles over the years, from undergraduate writing consultant to professor, I have taken pride in my ability to break down the writing process into manageable chunks, and create a system that allows students to not only write strong papers but to also understand the thought process that informs the modern academic essay. Some of the steps I take to explain writing to my students include discussing the three components of a strong thesis statement, outlines that propel writers through difficult assignments, and lessons on sentence structure that lead to well-crafted prose that adds clarity and credibility to arguments. My students at UCLA and Loyola Marymount University have told me that I was the first person to teach them how to write with confidence, and I am establishing a strong reputation as a private tutor for the same reasons that have made me successful in higher education: namely, my structured, transparent approach to the writing process, and the empathy and energy that I bring to lessons. I provide free consultations, so you have nothing to lose by reaching out to me to see how I can help you.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
